GIORGAKIS OLYMPIOS

“He who fights for freedom will either earn it through fighting or sanctify it through death…”

- There is nothing left anymore. I promise to fight to the last drop of my blood without ever being intimidated by any human circumstances.

“Your soul and Christ are all you need. The whole world does not have the power to take those two things from you, unless you surrender them willingly. Always protect those two, so that you do not lose them.”

Κλέφτικη Ζωή - "The Life of the Klepht"

This song describes the life of the klephts, which is harsh, dangerous, and full of adversities. War and constant alertness are their routine. There are no care-free moments. Even their food and night’s rest, which everyone needs, are really hard to enjoy. But why do they endure all this? For the Spring. For the much desired Spring of freedom that their swords brought amidst the Winter of slavery. Their bravery, valour and faith illuminated the Nation’s deep night. This shows us that every good thing always comes after toil and sacrifices, but it is definitely worth it.

Lyrics (GR)
